新疆 - Xin Jiang
A winter trip
2025 January
Ka Nasi Lake, Altay Prefecture
This collection of photographs document scenes I witnessed of Northern Xin Jiang, China, during my trip in January of 2025. In the two weeks time, my father, mother, and I visited several main areas of Altay, exploring different aspects of the region. Although, by no means is this representative nor conclusive, it is the Xin Jiang that I witnessed and wish to share.
Landscapes of Northern Xin Jiang
There is an inexplicable hint of intimacy from nature found in Altay. From the resilient snow covered mountains ranges to the gently flowing bodies of water, at every turn there was a new and refreshing combination of interests crafted by the trees, rocks and rivers.
Street roamers
Every settlement had their share of animals. During the day, I often saw dogs roaming around and hanging about people. At places with less traffic, the dogs would stick by parking and walk up to cars that stop by. Every dog I met was very well mannered and tame, obviously, they were looking for food and attention when approaching people, but they were not starving. Every bite was extra food for the belly, and they were well capable of sharing amongst themselves. I once fed a dog some leftover meat, and it immediately passed the food to the dog beside it, only then, asking for a second piece.
